On 23 October, Proforest commissioned a Rural Service Centre in Asumura, in Ghana’s Ahafo Region, to help cocoa farmers improve productivity, strengthen climate resilience and protect forests. Supported by the Walmart Foundation, the centre will provide technical training, farm-management services and community support under a deforestation-free, climate-resilient cocoa landscape programme; the project’s total funding amount was not disclosed in the report.
Environmental organisations, cocoa producers and public agencies can explore opportunities in forest monitoring, sustainable agriculture and climate-risk reporting. HPC can support environmental data systems, sustainability analytics and performance monitoring; no specific service contract price was announced.
