On 22 October, Reuters reported that Ghana had instructed its Minerals Commission to harmonise wages and employment conditions across the mining industry as operations shift towards local contractors. The regulator was also tasked with developing a contractor classification system and submitting implementation proposals by 30 November, while the government said workers should not lose wages, benefits or employment conditions because of the transition. Mining companies, contractors and training providers can explore opportunities in workforce planning, contractor readiness and skills development. HPC can support workforce analytics, training-performance reporting and operational data systems; the new wage standards and any related contract values had not yet been disclosed.
